Poverty in Cambodia

“Blessed is he who considers the poor!”

Psalm 41:1

We are excited to share with you a great opportunity to help the poor – some of the poorest of the poor!

It is the

CAMBODIAN MEDICAL MISSION

January 15-25, 2009

In Kampong Cham, Svay Rieng, and Kandal, rural areas of Cambodia.

A GREAT OPPORTUNITY!!!

This is an opportunity to help many who are without any medical assistance.  Cambodian brethren want to do as much as they can in this effort.  We have the opportunity to help and encourage them in this.  Randy Uthe (Global Samaritan Resources) is providing direction.  A mobile clinic is already in place in Cambodia, giving us permission to get into the country.  Four missionaries on the field in Cambodia have committed to helping in this work.

WE NEED YOUR HELP IN THIS GREAT WORK.

We need to have $15,000.00 in hand by November 15.  Some have already contributed; others have promised to help. Will YOU help us in an effort to help the poor?

ALL CONTRIBUTIONS MAY BE MADE TO:

*EYEGLASSES:

Eyeglasses (for reading) are needed.  Here is how you can help:

                                (1) Obtain reading glasses (as many as you can) from the Dollar Store;

                        (2) Send prescription glasses (accompanied by prescription).

HOW YOU CAN SHARE IN THIS GOOD WORK:

1.  Make a financial contribution (whatever you can afford) to help in purchasing the      needed medical supplies (Total of $6,679.05.)

2.  Provide for the expenses of a Cambodian doctor ($25.00 per day for 7 days).

3.  Provide for the expenses of a Cambodian nurse ($10.00 per day for 7 days).

4.  Provide reading glasses (purchased at the Dollar Store).

5.  Encourage individuals and classes (children, youth, adults) to make a contribution to           the effort.  (Large contributions are encouraged.  Small contributions are encouraged.  No                 contribution is too small!)  Pass a can around in your class and give individuals an      opportunity to participate.

6.  PRAY.  Pray for this medical mission.  Pray that many may be helped.  Pray             especially that the effort may “dovetail” into the work of the small congregations         that have been established in the area.

A PERSONAL WORD:

I have had the opportunity to be in Cambodia and to witness the plight of the Cambodians.  Wages, if work can be found, are from $2.00 - $5.00 per day (sometimes

even less).  Health insurance is virtually non-existent.  The need is real.

The medical mission planned in January is worthy of your support in whatever way you can help.  Your fellowship will be greatly appreciated.
