A Message from the Elders

The Mineral Springs church of Christ strives to be a place of hope and purpose for the hurting and wounded, and a zone of safety for those bruised by life (Ezekiel 34:16).  Hope, help, and home is the theme which drives the ministries of this church.  Jesus is the One anointed by God to bless and bind up the wounded and weakened.  It is through and in Him that we encourage others to begin again, and live with purpose and passion in these times.  To this end and for His glory, we elders devote our prayers and personal involvement.  As shepherds under the Chief Shepherd, we are here to bless, not boss; lead, not "lord,"; support, not supervise.  As those who must give account for the way we love and care for the church at Mineral, how may we serve you?

A Message from Robert

Thanks for your interest in knowing more about our church family.  We trust that this web page will further inform you about the work of God in this people, and provide a blessing to your life.

The church of Christ at Mineral Springs is a community of believers who travel from numerous communities throughout this area to serve the Lord together.  Among us, there is no discrimination based upon economic, social, racial status.  Everyone has both grace and a place.  It is our desire to be a place of hope and help to those seeking refuge and direction in the Lord.  The contents of this web page reflect both the beliefs and life of this loving and devoted church.  Notice that we are involved in a variety of ministries designed to connect with the needs of people in both this church and the broader community.

Certain underlying commitments decide what is done for Jesus through this body:

Evangelism

The Great Commission of Christ to His people (Matthew 28:18-20) has priority over all our ministries and activities.  The good news of Jesus is the word of hope amidst an increasingly confused and dangerous cultural climate.  God loves sinners (all of them).  He deeply desires their redemption and participation in His grand purpose for both earth and eternity.  We are committed to sharing that message of love and forgiveness.

Edification

The ministries of our elders and evangelist are focused upon building and blessing people (Ephesians 4:11-16).  God intends for the believer to mature in discipleship.  A variety of formal and informal teaching and nurturing activities are geared to accomplish that goal.

Worship

By itself, life has enough hardships and headaches.  Our assemblies are designed to serve as times of joy, encouragement, and instruction intended to lighten those loads rather than increase them.  An assembly of God's people should not resemble a funeral but a celebration of the truth and life that are Jesus.  Praise and prayer accent our time of corporate worship, and the Lord's Supper weekly cements our ties of loving loyalty both to Jesus and one another.

A high priority also is placed upon individual worship during the believer's daily walk with God.  If a disciple waits until Sunday to offer devoted worship and service to the Lord, he has waited six days too late.  At this church, worship is emphasized as a daily deliberate offering to the Lord rather than a few things formally and periodically done together.  Members are encouraged to make their workplaces, homes, schools, hobbies, minds, and bodies arenas of deliberate, regular worship to the glory of God.

Renewal

This church has become a safe place for many with wounds from previous abusive church-related situations.  Discouraged people (including numerous Christians) have found the mercy and motivation to start anew with the Lord.  As an imperfect church serving the perfect Lord, we seek to touch hurting people with hope and help.  Regardless of where you are or where you have been, Jesus loves you and will help you begin again!  He is a place of redemption, renewal, and rest (Matthew 11:28).  The Lord did not treat strugglers as if they were hopelessly chained to their past sins and failures, but pointed them toward responsible and purposeful futures in His presence.  The gospel is good news today about the bad news of yesterday.  In Christ, there is wholeness and help for those whom life (or even a church) has wounded.

Community Service

The values and priorities of the kingdom of Christ are upside-down in comparison to those of culture.  The way up is down.  The rich are poor and the great are small.  Furthermore, under the rule of the Lord, those who give receive.  Jesus was a giver both in life and death, a servant of others (Matthew 2028).  This church desires to imitate that kind of serving Savior.  Life is divided into takers and givers.  We desire to be givers.  Please know that we care about your situation and desire to do what we can, in His name, to lighten your load.
